Objectives
•
Identify those oilsands project
developers that are using or considering the use of
gasification technology to lower operating costs by
replacing or supplementing the use of natural gas to
power boilers and cogen plants and to hydrotreat oil
extracted from raw bitumen to upgrade into high-quality
synthetic crude oil.
•
Review how gasification is
used in each project to convert the asphaltenes or the
"bottom of the barrel" to syngas that can
be used in the oilsands upgrading process and how project
economics are improved.
